3. you talking to you

You know when you’re in conversation with someone and you’re deciding which words to say, picking out which thought you want to make audible? You’re choosing which thought is “you” and which thought is “ not you” ? You should do that even when it’s just you talking to you.

When you’re wrestling with your thoughts, think to yourself, would I ever say that out loud to someone? Or am I only thinking it because no one can hear how mean I’m being.

Would I ever say that to someone else? Is this how I would treat a stranger? Or would I give them the grace to be fully human? Would I filter myself and say the best version of what I was thinking? Would I find a way to see the light in the moment? Would I say something nice?

There’s no reason our thoughts surrounding ourselves should be allowed to run rampant in our mind, yet put on a leash when we’re around others. Thoughts need training too. They need to be taught what to do, how to behave. They need your guidance. Your brilliance and your intelligence. Lend them all your favorite qualities so that your thoughts can get stronger and your mind doesn’t fall prey to weaknesses, ill.

Talk to you like you’re announcing your presidency. Champion yourself. Campaign yourself. Remember practice gets us closer perfect.

It starts with your next thought.

Ready.
Go.

If you need help,
remember I love you.
